From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N9980W was VFR inbound to ilm, touch and go, then continuing to cre. On or shortly after touchdown, N9980W looped rapidly to the left. A flight instructor responsible for N9980W provided a picture of the damaged nose tire, a copy of the aircraft logbook entry for the replacement of the nose tire and a copy of the pilot's solo cross country endorsement. The flight instructor provided the following information based on inspection and his experience as an accident investigator with the army:"N9980W while being flown by a student pilot solo cross country, with 38.7FLIGHT hours prior to this flight, touched down in a crab with a higher than normal sink rate and when the student pilot attempted to correct he over corrected and applied a force to the pedals causing the nose wheel to skid resulting in the nose wheel tire to rupture"at the time of the incident aircraft were landing on runway 24 and winds reported by ATIS were 140 at 5.the following corrective action is to be taken by the flight instructor:"the training plan for privacy data omitted is for him to go back up with myself athis leisure, an internal check ride so to speak, working on cross wind landings and techniques."
