From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student pilot was on his first solo cross country flight from olathe, KS, johnson county executive airport (ojc) to fort Scott, KS (fsk). Upon landing on runway 18 at fsk, the aircraft veered left and departed the left side of the runway. The aircraft struck a rock and came to rest approximately 550 feet east of runway 18. Evidence indicates the pilot may have unsuccessfully attempted to make a "touch and go" landing. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the nose landing gear, engine mounts and firewall. The pilot was not injured. Visual meterological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident with wind estimated from the southeast at approximately 13 gusting to 23 knots.
