From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omittedSaid that this was the first flight of the day. The run up was normal. There were 12 jumpers on board. At 4000' on the climb out 2 jumpers were let out of the air plane in a " hop and pop " 20 seconds after powering back up and climbing another 1000' the engine made a loud bang at 5000' in the climb and was immediately followed by a power loss. privacy data omittedThen initially pitched for the best glide speed and turned to the field (hdh). After running the emergency checklist privacy data omitted turned off the fuel condition lever.privacy data omitted Said that he told the jumpers to stay inside the aircraft because they were to FAR offshore for the jumpers to make it to the shoreline if they had jumped and he did not want the jumpers to get in the way of his approach path. privacy data omitted Then made the same approach that he always makes after dropping jumpers but this time it was from a slightly lower altitude. privacy data omitted Said that he was very confident that he could make the runway as he has conducted this approach many time before on a daily basis. privacy data omitted Was given an informal action in the form of airmen counseling.
