From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Captain privacy data omitted, first office privacy data omitted and jetblue iad supervisor eddy fernandez met with inspectors popsuy and johnson in the jetbridge area and near the aircraft boarding door. Captain privacy data omitted stated it was a "clear blue sky" as they descended through 24,000 feet during their descent into iad. The aircraft experienced wake turbulence that rolled the plane approximately 30 degrees right and then 60 degrees back to the left and then to neutral. They called ATC to inquire what aircraft was ahead of them and were told an emirites 777. Captain privacy data omitted requested "a turn off the airway to avoid further upset" and continued with their descent. He stated this encounter only lasted 5-6 seconds. While captain privacy data omitted made a pa to the passengers to explain what had just happened, privacy data omitted received a call from first flight attendant privacy data omitted stating second flight attendant privacy data omitted may have broken her ankle. Both were in the aft galley when the aircraft "upset" occurred. A nurse, privacy data omitted, offered to assist the injured flight attendant. This injured flight attendant was then secured in the last row of seats (a/c left). United airlines jumpseater pilot privacy data omitted, offered to assist with the landing and monitor the aft door exits. He was briefed by first flight attendant. Ual pilot privacy data omitted then took the aft jumpseat position at door 2L for landing.

The captain declared a medical emergency and received priority landing. The captain made a pa to the passengers explaining one of the flight attendants was injured. Emts met the flight in iad and the injured flight attendant was transported to the reston hospital. Upon speaking with iad supervisor fernandez later in the afternoon on 4/4/13 and again on 4/5/13, it was stated the flight attendant had dislocated a bone in her right ankle/foot. The flight attendant was not hospitalized overnight. NTSB air safety inspector terry duprie stated on 4/9/2013 that the incident remained reportable and NTSB form 6120 was filled out due the injured flight attendant being unable to fullfill her assigned duties. The NTSB considers this matter closed as a minor injury.
