From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was treating a field near Eagle Lake, MN. Field was being treated north to south. On the 4th pass, the pilot reported that he pulled up to finish the pass and noticed that he was getting too close to trees on the south edge of field. He applied full power and attempted to pull up to miss trees. The pilot reported that he clipped the top 6 feet of one of the trees. The aircraft sustained extensive damage to the right upper and lower wings and aileron, however the pilot was able to maintain enough control of the aircraft to fly to and land at mkt, the nearest airport, about 5 miles from where he struck the tree.
