From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Delta airlines flight 718, aircraft registration N384DA, a B737, landed at John f. Kennedy airport (jfk) on runway 31R. According to airport agency reports and aircraft maintenance records, provided from the air carrier and airport agencies stated, upon landing on to runway 31R at intersection za, the pilot of aircraft N384DA reported that one of the aircraft wheels struck the in pavement runway centerline (c/l) light fixture that was detached and protruding from its flush mounted socket holder, causing the c/l light fixture to become dislodged from the its socket holder, striking and impacting the aircraft. The impact from the c/l light fixture caused damage to the aircraft?s lower right fuselage belly skin below the forward cargo compartment. The damage consisted of two long dents. One dent measured 22.375 in x 5.825 in x 0.187 in, and the second dent measured 16.5 in x 4.75 in x 0.218 in. The aircraft exited runway 31 r and then taxied to the gate uneventfully with no reported injuries.

Once the subject aircraft was clear of runway 31R, jfk airport operations closed runway 31R, until airport operations personnel conducted a sweep of the runway for all debris caused by the dislodged in pavement c/l light fixture, and for a cold patch repair to be made to the c/l light fixture and to its flush mounted socket holder.

As the FAA filed it
