From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 22 November, 2014, a PA-31-350 aircraft experienced a failure of the landing gear to extend while on approach to land in kake, Alaska. The ATP rated pilot in command elected to return to Juneau, Alaska, the airport of origin, where emergency services were available. Several attempts to manually extend the landing gear were unsuccessful. The pilot in command was finally able to lower the main landing gear by emergency actuation but the nose landing gear failed to fully extend and lock. The aircraft landed on rwy 8 where the nose landing gear collapsed. There were no injuries to the two passengers or the crew. The aircraft received minor damage.
