From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot made a short field takeoff and climbed quickly to pattern altitude. He had retracted the gear and turned upwind and was thinking of how he was going to simulate a practice approach into kearney airport. During his down -wind approach into Ryan airport, ATC informed him it was clear to land onto runway 6 right. During his missed approach he had failed to conduct his first gump check. Then while he was conducting his short base and final for a short, steep approach into Ryan airport, he had missed the center line for runway 6 right and was fifty degrees north of the runway with runway 6 left in use. He then had to quickly correct to line up onto center of runway 6 right and while doing so forgot to extend the gear for landing.
