From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

5/19/2015 - 17:20 Local finger lakes regional airport, NY: N5832N, a Rockwell International 114, attempted to takeoff runway, went off the left side of the runway and struck a light fixture with the left wing. POB: 1, injuries: none, damage: minor

Inspected N5832N @ the finger lakes regional airport found: aircraft appears to have non-structural wing damage, and possible landing gear, and unknown engine issues. The pilot, at what appears at full throttle, left the runway, hit the glideslope lights (2 damage unusable) , PAPI, with the left wing tip, continued through the windsock circle, jumped jet another concrete border, ran through the grass still running, and went through a ditch where there was multiple prop hits, plane continued up the bank mowing the grass with the prop, until he rolled onto the runway an approx. 1500 feet from the start. Pilot then taxied back to the ramp. There was no evidence of braking. Weather: initially was told there was tail wind at approx. 15 knots, but was later told it was a cross wind. A crosswind would better explain the arc he left on the runway.

6/3/2015 - Additional information from the pilot; event time 17:20, wind speed 14 -18 knots @ 341, the runway was dry, and there was no mechanical issues prior to the flight. Pilot's account of the incident: "on departure encounter high cross wind after passing building slid of the runway onto the grass"

Aircraft will be repaired locally at finger lakes regional

ASI - pilot attempted a departure from runway 1 to the north, winds as stated by the pilot were at 341 @ 14 -18 knots. Markings, (tire rub marks, no skid marks) on the runway show from the end of the runway a steady arc of the nose tire and right main tire heading toward the left side of the runway. The left main tire showed evidence approx. 25 feet from the runway, in the grass.

Aircraft annual, registration, and pilot medical was current.
