From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot reported that he had been flying the aircraft for about 10 minutes conducting some hovering and tight pattern work over the runway. While making a pass over the runway, he stated that he did not feel he was going to clear the trees at the west end of the runway. He stated that he then turned to the left to attempt a downwind landing and the aircraft lost lift and contacted the ground nose wheel first just off the south edge of the runway. The aircraft then flipped causing main rotor blade strike. Aircraft sustained substantial damage.
