From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was flying approx. 1500' AGL and the engine started running rough and quit, pilot re-started engine and it quit again. Pilot was unsuccessful getting engine to re-start and declared a mayday. Pilot landed aircraft in shallow lake on abandoned golf course in about 1'-2' ft of water. No injuries to pilot and minor damage to aircraft.

There was approx. 5 gallons of fuel removed from fuel tank on scene and wings were removed so aircraft can be transported to sfb on trailer. Post incident investigation revealed that engine would not operate normally until ground wire for ignition leads was cleaned. Engine being brought to Rotax engine maintenance facility for further investigation.
