From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot reported that he departed the ankeny airport (kikv) in N947SP at approximately 09:30 on January 2nd and planned to fly first to the Newton VOR (tnu) and then to ktnu to perform one touch and go before returning to kikv.

On final approach at tnu, the pilot reported the left (west) half of runway 32 was completely snow covered and that the runway had been plowed, but the concrete was not visible on the left half of the runway. Additionally, the pilot reported the right (east) half of the runway had patches of snow, but there was more concrete visible.

The pilot stated that he applied full flaps and trimmed the plane up to 65 knots and the plane as very stable. Additionally, the pilot stated that he pulled the throttle completely off prior to crossing the end of runway 32 and touched down on the center of the runway. Further, he stated that the touchdown and roll was smooth and uneventful.

As the aircraft was rolling down the runway, and preparing to take off and initiate a touch-and-go, the pilot stated that he retracted the flaps and advanced the throttle while applying right rudder to complete his takeoff and return to kikv. Immediately upon advancing the throttle, the pilot reported that the plane veered sharply left and he immediately pulled the throttle off, but could not stop the plane before it hit the snow that was piled up along the left (west) edge of runway 32.

As the FAA filed it
