From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

CFI and student were practicing landings. After 11th landing, during the roll for a touch and go, CFI placed the flap handle in the up position. Student then applied power. During initial climb out, CFII noted that the aircraft controls were sluggish and the aircraft was not climbing well. Aircraft was very low and unable to climb so CFI chose to land in a nearby field. CFI executed a safe off airport landing with no damage to aircraft. After landing CFI noted that the flaps had remained in the down position even though flap selector switch was in the up position.
