From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft was on a local maintenance check out flight with a company mechanic on board. The pilot who was the PIC asked the mechanic if he would like to fly the aircraft in the traffic pattern which he accepted. On final approach to rwy 13L the mechanic flared approximately 10 feet above the runway while reducing the power to idle and the airspeed decayed rapidly. The PIC attempted to recover the aircraft by lowering the nose but it landed flat on the runway. The nose gear collapsed causing the aircraft to slide on its nose damaging the nose, nose gear doors and bending both propellers.
