From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N95551 was on a test flight after maintenance. The pilot descended rapidly trying to do a ?high energy? Pass down the runway trying to reproduce a problem the school was having with the aircraft. Once over the runway the pilot applied full power and the engine lost power. Pilot ran out of runway to land on so he turned and landed in the big patch of grass next to the runway. The field was wet and when the nose wheel hit the grass the nose wheel sunk down and flipped the airplane over on its back.

Mx inspector drained carb and gascolator and found a lot water in the fuel.
