From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated he departed RUNWAY26R at ksus. At 100 to 200 feet AGL the canopy popped open and he started to have control issues as he was trying to close the canopy. The canopy would not close and the pilot elected to land on runway 8R at ksus because of the aircraft control issues. The pilot stated the aircraft was shaking and he could not read the airspeed indicator and he touched down fast on the runway. On reducing power the aircraft lifted off the runway and then touched down hard. The landing gear collapsed and the aircraft slid off the runway onto the grass.
