From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Departed gai for the purpose of flight instruction. After completing three touch and goes at Carroll county airport (kdmw), the instructor had the student perform a 180 degree engine out landing. The student delayed the landing extension because he was not sure they would make the airfield due to distance from the field. The procedure was done at 1600 ft altitude and at 1000 ft prior to the end of the down wind at 100-110 mph airspeed. The instructor and student were concerned with making the turn and never did a cross check inside the aircraft to make sure the gear was put down. The instructor said he didn't realize the gear wasn't down until the aircraft was on the runway. Weather conditions at time (1258 local) of incident was: temp 75 f, dew point 48 f, vis 10 miles, wind nw @ 5.8 mph and mostly cloudy.
