From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student and instructor remained in the traffic pattern due to threat of possible approaching bad weather. They had done several landings of various types and were doing their third 180 degree landing configuration power off landing. They waited to lower the landing gear until they were certain to make the runway and the student reached out and pushed down on the gear lever. He does not recall pulling the lever out from the panel before doing so. The instructor saw him reach for the gear lever and believed the gear had been lowered. Neither of them checked the gear lights. After touching down they found the gear lever was in the up position and the gear horn was still sounding.

After the aircraft was removed to the maintenance hangar the proper operation of the landing gear system, gear down lights and gear horn was verified.
