From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot arrived to preflight around 2PM. He was observed via camera footage and from line service conducting preflight. It was noticed he spent atleast 20 minutes removing bird nest from his cowling. He then sumped his fuel tanks and removed water from his tanks. The aircraft was parked on the ramp at W96 for more than 2 months with out being flown or moved. The pilot taxied to the fuel farm for fuel. He fuel both wings for a total of 16.2 gallons of fuel. The pilot checked his fuel again and noticed fuel vent was clogged with mud. He removed the mud. The pilot conducted a run up with no findings or issues. He departed RUNWAY29. After rotation and prior to 100 feet he had an engine failure and aimed for the only place he saw which was a field on a hill ending in trees. The pilot landed in the tree line. He was able to exit the aircraft and medics arrived shortly after.
