From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Persuant to the pilot's statement: the pilots were doing commercial power off 180 landing on 17 turf at Stearman. Pulled power at pattern altitude to idle abeam numbers on downwind, lowered 10 of flaps, and turned toward runway. The student lined up with the runway for landing and landed just short of the target spot. Once wheels touched, the plane's nose veered right. The instructor went for left rudder, and powering up did not correct nose to the right. The aircraft impacted a tree and house east of the runway.
