From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 1624 local time, on October 10, 2020, N5147J, a Cessna 172 skyhawk, landed on runway 25 at Midland Airpark (kmdd). The aircraft is owned by flight school based at Midland Airpark and was piloted by a student pilot practicing solo takeoffs, landings and traffic pattern work. Upon first landing, student pilot states he experienced a crosswind from the south, causing the aircraft?s right main gear to deviate from the surface into the safety area north of runway 25. The student pilot was unable to correct. The student pilot pulled the mixture all the way out and applied the brakes before striking the north parameter fence. The aircraft came to a stop once it struck the fence.
