What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot began to feel the engine running rough and then applied carburetor heat and full throttle. At that point the engine had lost power, the carburetor heat was applied too late. He decided to land the aircraft in a field near the freeway. He made a successful landing and rolled approximately 40 feet at which point he made contact with an irrigation line which caused the aircraft to flip and land inverted. The aircraft received substantial damage to the rudder as a result.
