From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC statement:

On August 15th my mission was to fly from abbeville Louisiana(kiya) to 22MS private strip to pick up a friend who was dropping off his aircraft for maintenance. I started decending to traffic pattern altitude. I approached 22MS from the south. Then tuned into frequency 122.9 where my passenger was waiting and had just flown in 15 mins prior to me landing. I asked him for a weather briefing he told me the winds were from 3-5 knots almost straight down runway 31. To be cautious I flew an upwind of runway 31 so I could observe the conditions of the airport. I then turned a left crosswind followed by a left downwind. Since this was first landing on this airstrip I extended my downwind so I would have a longer final approach. I then turned left base then left final runway 31. At this time I was already in landing configuration. I had 30 degree flaps and my approach speed was 85MPH/75KNOTS. After passing the trees on the southern part of the runway I kept a little power in while trimming to obtain approach speed so I was able to touchdown on the soft field as softly as possible. I then held back on the yoke then I gently put the nose down. At that point the aircraft started sliding to the left. I put in right rudder to try to stay center of the runway I pulled up slightly on the hand break to see if I could unlock the main breaks but to no avail. At this point I thought my breaks had locked up so I thought if I could keep it straight down the runway it would eventually stop because I had about 1500 ft left of the runway. As the aircraft slowed down the affectivness of the right rudder decreased. Then when we slowed down a little more the aircraft took a violent turn to the left towards a peanut field. At that point I had no right rudder at all. I then told my passenger to brace and the aircraft hit the peanut field and flipped resting us upside down.

Bystander statement:

On Monday 08/15/2022 sky Landings airport was awaiting the arrival of privacy data omitted for service work. The pilot of privacy data omittedarrived at 22MS @9:30CST and was awaiting the arrival of privacy data omitted to pick him privacy data omitted up and fly back to Louisiana. privacy data omitted Overflew 22MS at @9:45CST. At that time privacy data omitted was in radio communication with privacy data omittedand gave wind direction and general speed. Wind speed was @2-5 mph out of 29-32 so landing on 31 was the best option. privacy data omitted After @150-200FT of being on the ground the aircraft began to enter a skid to the left. Once it started to veer left it became apparent something was wrong. privacy data omitted Entered the field & flipd
