What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 7 November 2022 about 1330 local time, the pilot attempted a main wheel landing of the 7ECA at Merrill Field (mri) in Anchorage Alaska on runway 25. During the landing roll, as the airspeed diminished the tailwheel lowered to the runway. The pilot lost directional control and departed the runway to the north short of taxiway echo.
The pilot stated she never moved the control stick to the full aft position as she had been instructed during training.
As the aircraft entered snow between the runway and taxiway the tail rose off the ground and the pilot applied more braking resulting in the propeller striking the ground and the aircraft stopping in a tail up position.
