From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 11, 2022 at appx 1730 HST, flight instructor and private rated student pilot were conducting a flight to gauge students readiness for commercial check ride. Towards the end of the flight, while at Kalaeloa airport, the student pilot was at the controls and initiated a simulated engine failure from a hover. Student pilot unexpectantly rapidly rolled throttle to idle and CFI was unable to anticipate rapid loss of transverse flow and sideward motion. During the maneuver the student pilot lost control of the helicopter, it slid left, then aft as it contacted the ground it rolled to the left onto its side, sustaining substantial damage.
