From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 25, 2022 at 0800 EST, a Cirrus SF50 vision jet, privacy data omitted, departed mqj on an IFR flight plan to 3J7. At 400 ft AGL, the pilot received an indication the engine was losing thrust followed by an abnormal flight control response. The pilot moved the throttle control with no response and when autopilot was disconnected, the aircraft pitched up at a 30 degree angle. At that time the pilot activated the caps system by pulling the activation handle, the chute deployed and aircraft descended into a retention pond close to an industrial park approximately one mile southwest of mqj airport.
