From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 15, 2023, N5400S landed hard, nose first on runway 8 at klci. The pilot was in the flare when a gust of wind took the plane up. According to the pilot's statement, he applied full power for a go around and the nose pitched down impacting the nose gear into the runway. The nose gear collapsed and subsequently forced the main gear to collapse toward the rear of the aircraft. Due to the force of the nose impacting the runway there was substantial damage to the firewall and the right wing was dislodged from the fuselage.
