From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On arrival into mmqt, ATC vectored flight toward significant severe convective activity while in IMC conditions. Aircraft penetrated severe weather and encountered hail and severe turbulence. One engine and multiple aircraft systems failed.

Emergency was declared and priority handling occurred. A single engine approach and landing was accomplished. The aircraft taxied clear of runway to nearest taxiway for CFR inspection. Engine was shut down and aircraft towed to the maintenance facility with the APU running. Maintenance personnel were debriefed and logbook entries were made.

Note: aircraft damage (11) was selected as minor. There was a significant amount of damage. However, most of the damage was dented aircraft skin resulting from the hail which did not adversely affect the structural strength, performance, or flight characteristics of the aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
