From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed calvada meadows airport (74P) heading north, at about 800FT AGL, pilot stated that the engine started surging, pilot turned the boost pump on but it did not help. The pilot stated the engine shut down so he turned the aircraft south and tried to land on Nevada hiway 160. The aircraft landed on the east shoulder of the highway then crossed the highway over to the west shoulder of the highway, struck a street sign and came to rest approximately 1300 feet from the initial touchdown point in the parking lot of commercial property. The fuselage, both wings, prop, and landing gear were damaged after the landing.
