From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 08/01/2023, at approximately 7:16 pm eastern time, a Kitfox model 3 aircraft took off from honaker airfield (3R8) Scottsburg, Indiana. The aircraft climbed to approximately 75 feet above ground level before going into a dive. The aircraft impacted the ground at an approximate 45 degree angle in a cornfield east of the runway.

A witness reported the aircraft reached tree top level, drifted to the right and experienced a stall. A few moments later the right wing dropped and the aircraft went into a dive and it appeared the pilot was trying to pull out of a dive. The witness was able to locate the aircraft by the sound of the aircraft engine reving at high rpm's at the impact site.
