What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On October 6, 2023, at or around 14:21 MDT, a ryan baker SH-3R, had a nose gear collapse after landing on roll out at Double Eagle II Airport (aeg), Albuquerque, NM, while on a personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time, and a VFR flight plan was not filed. The aircraft sustained minor damage, and the airline transport pilot and passenger were not injured. The flight originated at Albuquerque, NM, on October 6, 2023, around 14:00 MDT.
The investigation determined an aluminum hydraulic line fitting going to the nose landing gear actuator chafed against the airframe and caused a hydraulic leak. The hydraulic fluid pooled on the inside of the cowling and was not visible on the outside of the aircraft. This prevented the nose landing gear from achieving a down and locked position.
