From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A student pilot flew solo from williamsport airport (ipt) williamsport, PA. To lock haven airport (lhv) lock haven, PA. The student pilot possessed the required solo endorsements to fly to lhv and had logged a total of one half hour of solo flight time at ipt when the flight departed. While on approach to land, a surveillance camera recorded the aircraft high on final, flaps extended. With approximately one half of the runway remaining. Power was applied as observed by an uncorrected left yaw, indicating a go-around/aborted landing. The aircraft exits the frame of the camera at this point. When the aircraft returned into camera view it was at approximately one hundred fifty feet above ground level in a left-wing low turn, nearly ninety-degree bank and descended into a wooded area impacting trees. A few seconds later the aircraft was destroyed by fire.

Post investigation revealed the aircraft was producing power and flaps were retracted.

As the FAA filed it
