From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 09/28/2024 the pilot under the supervision of his instructor was on approach to ksgj. After touchdown he was instructed to retract the flaps and apply brakes practicing a short-field landing. When the student went to retract the flaps, he mistakenly raised the gear selector to the up position instead of retracting the flaps. As the left main landing gear began to retract the instructor returned the gear lever to the down position. The left main gear had already partially retracted, causing the aircraft to tilt to the left side when the instructor took control of the aircraft stopping with the left main gear collapsed.
As the FAA filed it
ON 09/28/2024 THE PILOT UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF HIS INSTRUCTOR WAS ON APPROACH TO KSGJ.
