From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The PIC and his instructor were conducting traffic pattern operations at Hawthorne airport on 10/14/2024 in order to familiarize the PIC with his new aircraft and meet insurance requirements. On the third lap, the PIC and instructor stated that the PIC lowered the landing gear as a part of his downwind flows, but neither pilot can remember verifying the landing gear was deployed by noting that the green gear down locked light was illuminated. The instructor described distractions with the flap deployment on the base to final leg and a subsequent focus on the pic's airspeed and pitch attitude, which led to missing his usual gumps confirmation on short finals. Security camera footage shows privacy data omitted flying over the threshold of runway 25 with the landing gear retracted. Neither pilot remembers hearing the audible landing gear warning sound. At approximately 14:45PM pt, privacy data omitted landed with the landing gear retracted, travelling approximately 450FT. Both occupants exited the aircraft with no injuries.

A mechanic from a local business arrived on scene to assist in the removal of the aircraft from the runway. He noted that upon entering the cockpit the gear lever was in the down position. He was able to actuate the landing gear to full down and locked, noting in the process the warning horn and green gear position light were functional.

As the FAA filed it

SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE SHOWS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FLYING OVER THE THRESHOLD OF RUNWAY 25 WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. NEITHER PILOT REMEMBERS HEARING THE AUDIBLE LANDING GEAR WARNING SOUND. AT APPROXIMATELY 14:45PM PT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED, TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 450FT.
