From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 28, 2025, at approximately 1620 central standard time, a Schweizer 269C-1, lost power and auto rotated into a pasture before flipping over and coming to rest upside down. Shortly after take-off approximately 2-3 minutes at approximately 400 ft AGL the aircraft experienced a loss power. The pilot reported that he cycled the throttle a couple of times with no response. The pilot made a slight left turn and aimed for an empty field to perform an autorotation. Approximately 10 feet above the ground the pilot flared. The pilot realized that the aircraft was a bit too FAR tail down and started to tip forward. At which point, the rotor arch touched the ground and flipped the aircraft. The pilot was not injured, and the aircraft sustained substantial damage. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the incident.
