Production basis Production Certificate No. 10. P-917 2 NOTE 1. Hub Model Designation Hub model designation HC - D 2 X 20 - 3 A Denotes minor change not affecting eligibility L denotes left-hand rotation Denotes specific design features (see Note 4) SAE No. 20 spline Hartzell blade shank size Number of blades Identifies basic design Hartzell controllable A -10 following the hub serial number identifies that oversize tubes are pressed into the spider in order to accommodate worn blade bushings. NOTE 2. Blade Model Designation Blade model designation L 93 33 D H - 4 + Number of inches added to basic diameter - Number of inches cut off from basic diameter Used in an aluminum blade model designation denotes hard alloy Dimensional modification from original design "A" when used with 8433 blades denotes 1° sweepback. Otherwise sweepback is 2°. Basic model or template Basic diameter in inches Denotes left-hand blade NOTE 3. Pitch Control. Eligible with Hartzell manual or constant speed control. Constant speed control includes the Hartzell governor Model A-1. Additional weight of governor is 3.75 lb. (Note: Some installations require a T-drive adapter for the governor. Additional weight of the Hartzell Model C-137 adapter is 2.5 lbs, and of the Hartzell Model C-253 adapter is 2.7 lbs.) NOTE 4. (a) Feathering. Not applicable. (b) Reversing. -3 model incorporates hydraulically controlled reversing. NOTE 5. Left-Hand Models. The left-hand version of an approved model propeller is eligible at the same rating and diameter as listed for the right-hand model. See Notes 1 and 2. 3 P-917 NOTE 6. Interchangeability. (a) Blades. Only blades listed in the same group of the following list are sufficiently similar aerodynamically and vibrationwise to permit interchangeability in the same diameter without a flight test. Group (a) 8433, 8433Z. Hard and soft alloy aluminum blades of the same model designation are interchangeable but only on seaplanes and amphibious aircraft. Model 8433A blades are interchangeable with 8433 blades provided both blades in the same propeller are identical. (b) Propellers. Only propellers listed in this data sheet are eligible as replacements for corresponding propellers listed in Type Certificate Data Sheet No. P-845 in accordance with Note 6 of P-845. Propellers listed in P-845 are not eligible to replace propellers listed in this data sheet. NOTES 7 Accessories. (a) Propeller deicing (1) Eligible with Goodrich "Icex" shoes, when applied in accordance with Goodrich instructions. Hartzell recommends that the maximum length be limited to .7 x blades radius, measured from center of hub. (b) Propellers spinners (1) Eligible with Hartzell Model D-164 bulkhead assembly, D-163 spinner dome. Additional weight 3 lb. The -3 model has no spinner eligible. (2) Eligible with Goodyear ice guards (electrical propeller deicer) when installed in accordance with instructions outlined in Goodyear Report No. AP-147 dated October 23, 1961. NOTE 8. Not applicable. NOTE 9.
