From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on 6/1/95, (identity expunged) departed the kodiak municipal airport in N9608G, a Cessna U206 wheel equipped airplane for a trip to the beach near ayakulik river on the southwest end of kodiak island. The trip was a FAR 135 dispatched flight to pick up three passengers and return to the kodiak municipal airport. He was the only occupant for the trip down. The landing site is a sandy beach which has been used numerous times for airplane landings in the past. (Identity expunged) determined it was safe to land after surveying the landing site with low fly-by passes, and a brief touch and go landing. After landing, he was taxiing to reposition the airplane and during the execution of a turn around the nose wheel dug into the sand and struck what he determined to be a rock. This caused the nose wheel to suddently twist beyond its limits and caused excessive stress on the nose fork. This resulted in the bolts holding the fork onto the strut to break. The nose wheel was broken off and one blade of the propeller struck the sand, causing damage. No injuries were sustained. He secured the airplane higher up the beach so the surf would not damage the airplane, and is process of obtaining a ferry permit, after temporary repairs are accomplished, and return the aircraft to home base. The carrier has temporarily suspended operations to this site. They are reviewing the site and operation procedures before making a decision to continue use of this landing site. Incident closed.

As the FAA filed it
