From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot stated; departed youngstown, Ohio with full fuel. I was trying to find clarion airport using VOR, DME and radio. While talking to clarion UNICOM - realized that nav and com - radios did not work and fuel gauges showed low fuel. Made precautionary landing infield. Am air, inc., owner of aircraft N98125, mechanic Mr. Howard portzer, stated that the post on the alternator became loose and burned off, leaving only battery power. Investigation of this incident confirms that the aircraft lost electric power and pilot elected to make an off-airport landing due to the fuel gauges showing nearly empty. No injury or damage occurred. Submission of this report closes this incident.
