From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: nwa flight 935 a DC-10-40 from msp to lax returned msp due to #1 engine fire warning at 10:20 local time. The captain declared an emergency, discharged one fire bottle, dumped fuel and returned to msp without incident. It appears that the 15th stage s-duct clamp was not installed. Both nut and lock nut were on the t-bolt, but the t-bolt was not thru the eyelit receptacle. The threads were normal on the t-bolt and the duct was undamaged. The clamp was on the s-duct above the connection point of the two ducts.
