From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: pilot stated that after what appeared to be a normal landing under good conditions the right tire failed which caused some loss of control and caused the right wing-tip to contact the runway damaging the wing tip. This particular aircraft has been modified with a stol kit with larger than normal drooping wing-tips. The standard tips would not have contacted the runway. A local A&P was contacted who inspected the aircraft and he described damage consistent with minor damage. Therefore, this report is closed as an incident and no further action is required.
