From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Enroute from stl to elp, the light panel for the flap quadrant, located on the left hand side of the center console, shorted out, producing smoke and fire. The flight crew planned for an emergency diversion to bro, but was able to extinguish the fire. The decision was made to continue to elp, where an uneventful landing was experienced. Inspection on the ground in elp revealed that the light panel which shorted out in flight was the sole source of the smoke and fire. The light panel was replaced, and the aircraft was returned to service. This information was passed on to the la aco and the la aeg, as well as being submitted on an SDR. The incident was judged by all to have been an isolated component failure.
