From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During initial climbout after takeoff at Dodge Center, Minnesota, the pilot experienced a total engine power loss. The pilot made an emergency landing in a nearby field. The pilot, who was the sole occupant in the aircraft, sustained serious injuries, mostly due to the lack of an installed shoulder harness. Initial investigation revealed that the engine had adequate fuel, ignition and air supply, so the cause of the power loss is still unknown. This record shall be updated when the cause of the power loss is discovered. Until then, the corrective action also remains unknown.

THIS RECORD SHALL BE UPDATED WHEN THE CAUSE OF THE POWER LOSS IS DISCOVERED. UNTIL THEN, THE CORRECTIVE ACTION ALSO REMAINS UNKNOWN.
