From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Air carrier incident, Pittsburgh int'l airport, PA 11/07/03 air midwest flight 5472, a B190, returned and landed on runway 28C at 1026E, after reporting an unsafe gear indication. The ARFF responded and the aircraft taxied to the ramp without incident. Further investigation revealed that the red landing gear intransit light remained illuminated after landing gear retraction. Crew elected to fly by tower for verification of landing gear position. Aircraft was ferried to dubois pa, the right landing gear uplock switch was removed and replaced. Aircraft was returned to service without further problems. This as per roy sherman maintenance supervisor kco amwa. Submission of this report closes this incident. (-23 additional narrative) after a normal take off from kpit, the crew reported that upon "gear up" selection, the green "gear down & locked" lights went out. However, with the gear selector now in the up position, the red "gear in transit" lights remained on. Check lists were consulted, and ATC was informed. The gear was cycled but with the same result. The crew elected to return to kpit, an emergency was declared, and a safe landing was made. L ater, the aircraft was moved by special flight permit kduj for repair. Maintenance replaced the r/h gear up lock switch, which corrected the problem. After a successful operational check and rii signature, the aircraft was returned to service.
