From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot stated that he had just recently purchased the aircraft and that he was practicing touch & go landings at the Jefferson county airport located at Port Townsend, WA. Before attempting to land at his place of residence at the diamond point airport, located in sequim, WA. The pilot stated that on his 6th touch & go that he wanted to do a minimum controlled airspeed approach and that on short final he had verified the flap position but failed to verify or put the landing gear in the down position. The aircraft subsuquently landed gear up and sustained minor damage. The pilot stated that he was so concentrated on maintaining the minimum control speed and the fact that the flaps were deployed out of sequence (normally the landing gear first, then the flaps) as the causal factors to landing gear up. Note: the pilot failed to report this incident. It was discovered by an article in the local newspaper.
