From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot began his day at boulder city, Nevada (61B). Landed at mack mesa, Colorado (C07) for refueling. It then moved on to aspen, Colorado (kase) and then to Glenwood Springs (gws). The pilot received a PIREP from a pilot who had recently departed Glenwood Springs indicating "swirling" winds from his departure on runway 14. The pilot said the automated weather information reported wind direction as 140-170 and velocity at times as "calm". The pilot privacy data omitted was in a party of two aircraft and his friend landed first on runway 14. His friend then told him the winds were now favoring runway 32. The pilot privacy data omitted said he then set up for an approach to runway 32, landed on the first third of the runway on the centerline, but at the end of the runway had to apply maximum braking effort, but went off the end of the runway anyhow, had his right main landing gear sheared off and he went through a barbed wire fence before the airplane came to a stop. There was minor damage to the aircraft and no injuries to the pilot. This is a final report.
