From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The student pilot departed the pittsburg atkinson municipal airport (pts), pittsburg, Kansas, at approximately 1000 CDT, without an endorsement from an authorized instructor on a flight to Stockton Municipal Airport (MO3), Stockton, Missouri. The pilot stated that while on final approach to runway 1, there was a crosswind she corrected for by dipping the left wing. The aircraft hit hard and bounced. She added power, causing the nose of the aircraft to veer left. She compensated by adding right rudder but the aircraft continued to the west side of the runway, coming to rest in the grass. The airport manager stated he observed the aircraft on final approach having difficulty lining up with the runway. At touchdown, the plane bounced high into the air with the right wing approximately 45 degrees high. The plane turned approximately 30 degrees left and appeared to stall. The right wing dropped and impacted the ground.
