From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 1, 2009 at approximately 1300 local time, N765DC, piloted by student pilot heath buczek, was involved in an accident while performing a touch and go landing at the Spanish Fork-Springville (U77) airport in Spanish Fork, UT. During the landing attempt, the aircraft began to float. The pilot anticipated a hard landing and increased throttle causing the aircraft to balloon. At that point the stall horn began to sound and the aircraft started to drift left. The pilot pushed the nose forward causing the right hand main wheel to contact the ground and the aircraft to turn to the left. The aircraft then left the runway surface, traveled across the median between the runway and taxiway, crossed the taxiway and came to rest in a ditch parallel to the taxiway. The aircraft received substantial damage to the prop, nose gear, wings, and rudder. The pilot exited the aircraft unassisted and sustained no injuries.
