From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot indiacted the flight began as a normal departure out of manchester, NH in N193WA under wiggins 1046. Upon arrival to the final approach fix in presque isle, pilot checked the airspeed and selected the gear handle to the down position. There was no visual or audible indication that the gear was in transition. Pilot checked all circuit breakers, noticed all breakers were in, and recycled the gear handle from the down, to the up, and back into the down position. There was not a change to the situation of gear being in the up position.

Pilot stated " this point, I began the missed approach procedure.

Upon informing boston center of the situation, I decided to hold as published on the RNAV runway 1 approach. While holding, I went through the emergency procedure steps in an attempt to remedy the situation. There was no indication of improvement of the scenario.

I attempted another RNAV runway 1 approach with the emergency crews notified on the ground. The intent was to fly over the field to have the ground personnel verify the gear position. Upon completion of the low pass, it was at that time I was notified the gear was in fact up. I went through the missed approach procedure again and was cleared to conduct one final RNAV runway 1 approach.

I circled around and began the approach. Once I had the field in sight, I lowered the flaps to the full down position. Once the field was guaranteed, I feathered the props, fuel to the cutoff position, pulled both t-handles, and shut off all electronics.

I was able to keep the plane off the ground until an airspeed of approximately 80-90 knots. After the plane made contact with the ground and was sliding down the runway, I opened the cockpit hatch in preparation of evacuation. The plane came to a full stop, I grabbed the escape ladder, and exited safely."
