From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot took off from kgly, Clinton Regional Airport, MO, at approximately 1115 CST headed for a private Kansas airstrip, 0KS8. At approximately 1130 CST at approximately 3100' MSL, the engine "stumbled" and lost RPM. Pilot immediately switched to the backup ignition and the engine began running steady again. After another 10 minutes of flight, the engine lost power and began "wind-milling". Pilot attempted a restart, and was unsuccessful. Pilot then began preparing for an emergency landing and began his decent. Aircraft was landed in a farmer's soybean field. Upon making contact with the soybeans, the front gear caught and was sheared off, the aircraft then flipped over onto the wings and came to rest in the field resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft. Pilot was unhurt and removed himself from the aircraft.
