From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Aircraft departed from gulf shores, al (kjka) airport, enroute to sundance airport, ok (khsd). While enroute at approximately 10,000FT and 30 miles southeast of eldorado Arkansas, the engine developed a vibration. The pilot used the mixture control to minimize the vibration and locate a suitable landing area. The manipulation of the mixture control by the pilot could no longer keep the engine running. The pilot elected to perform a forced landing in a clearing of a heavily wooded area approximately 4 miles southeast of eldorado Arkansas. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and the 2 occupants received minor injuries.
